Vindonissa Pugio with silver inlay
A beautiful reconstruction of a Roman dagger, designed very artistically and with great craftsmanship.
Both the riveted grip plates and the front plate of the scabbard are very elaborately decorated with silver inlay.
The scabbard is made of wood, covered in leather and has the typical four riveted brass belt attachments.
The blade has a total of four narrow fullers running together. The cutting edges are not sharp.
The model of our replica comes from the Roman legion camp Vindonissa, today Windisch, Switzerland.
A trident, the sign of the Roman god of the sea Neptune, is carved into the pommel.
It may indicate that the Pugio was originally made for an officer of the Roman naval forces.
