This Italian Kettle Had replica is hand forged from 1.6mm thick steel. The original is dated 1460. These helmets were not only very common in Italy, but also e.g. in Switzerland and southern Germany, especially among infantry troops.
The wide brim not only protects the head, but also the shoulders, chest and back from dangers that came from above, such as the hail of arrows of the late medieval archers. The brim and the crossing, wavy steel bands are riveted to the helmet bowl. This consists of two parts that were welded in the middle. Although the material thickness is "only" 1.6 mm, the helmet can definitely be described as battle-ready due to the spread.
Including a high-quality, padded leather inlay and a chin strap for a perfect hold.
