Late medieval longsword with scabbard, 15th century - National Museum Zurich, Switzerland

This beautiful two-handed sword is a replica of a late medieval longsword from around 1450-1460, classified as Type XVa according to the Oakeshott typology and can be admired in the Landesmuseum Zürich.
This replica has a spring steel blade tempered to approximately 49-51 HRC, which tapers towards the point and has a diamond-shaped cross section.
It is forged right down to the pommel and riveted there to the handle end. The crossguard is made of steel and the leather-wrapped wooden grip ends with a generous fishtail pommel.
The beautiful scabbard is made of dyed vegetable tanned leather. A shoulder strap with brass buckles is included.
With its 2mm thick bevelled edges and rounded tip, this longsword is perfect for re-enactment, fighting or sparring.
