British general's saber M-1831 with scabbard
British generals often exhibited a certain eccentricity in the appearance of their uniforms and armaments. The Duke of Wellington, for example, wore a saber with a Mamluk-style hilt, based on experience from his years in India. The new design of officers' swords circa 1831 was based on Wellington's.
This replica of a saber used by generals and officers around 1831 has an EN45 spring steel blade, which is sharpened but without final grinding. The decorated hilt is made of brass. The handle is made of wood and horn and is Mamluk style. The saber comes with a matching sheet metal scabbard including a carrying ring.
