Roman helmet Imperial Italic `D` Type Krefeld, steel and brass. Replica of an original found near the gates of the roman camp and later Kastell Gelduba (Krefeld-Gellep, Germany). Erected between 12 and 9 b.C., this roman fortification played a major role during the revolt of the Batavers in 69/70 a.d. and survived until 500 a.d.
This helmet uniquely combines various style elements:
- "eye" ornaments with embossed pupils (as encountered in pre-roman helmets)
- embossed eyebrows (similar to Imperial Gallic types)
- cross-shaped reinforcement of Imerial Italic type
- nape visor with angular ornamentation, handle and "tabula ansata"
- Steel and brass.
- suitable for head circumference up to 60 cm

- short distance (ear to ear): approx. 20.5 cm

- delivery includes padded cotton cap for wear under helmet
