Bastard sword with scabbard, for exhibition combat, SK-B

Late medieval and renaissance swords that are longer than a one-handed sword are called bastard swords. Mostly they are swords with one and a half hands.

This battle-ready reconstruction is made exclusively by hand. The straight, twisted crossguard and pommel are heat-treated, malleable cast iron. The spring steel blade, hardened in oil to approx. 48-50 HRC, goes through to the pommel and is hand-riveted there. The handle is wrapped with leather strap. The blade has a pronounced fuller that reaches almost to the middle of the blade and gives the sword greater elasticity and lightness at the same time. The blade tip and cutting edges are blunt and rounded.

The sword comes with a leather-covered wooden scabbard with simple locket and chape.

This is the battle-ready version of this hand and a half sword.
