This coif features an authentic square face opening and a fold-up triangular mouth guard secured by a leather strap. This guard—also known as a mouth flap or chin guard—is lined with leather on the inside.

This type of coif was particularly popular during the Early Middle Ages, notably among the Normans and Crusaders.

FRR-type mail:

This is a type of European mail composed exclusively of flat rings. All rings are closed using round rivets with rounded heads. The weave follows the "4-in-1" pattern. We designate this type of mail using the abbreviation FRR (Flat Ring Round Rivet Heads).

This medieval mail coif is suitable for stage combat, historical reenactment, live-action role-playing (LARP), theatrical performances, and film or television productions. It is particularly ideal for completing a Crusader or Knight Templar outfit.

We recommend wearing a padded coif underneath the mail coif.
