French Armet, 16th Century Helmet
French Armet, 16th Century Helmet
Inspired by 16th-century European models, this helmet represents the evolution of the traditional medieval bascinet. Designed to offer complete head protection while maintaining compactness, comfort, and mobility, it was particularly prized by knights and men-at-arms in France and the rest of Europe. This helmet became one of the symbols of Renaissance armor.
Our reproduction is entirely handcrafted in Italy by our expert armorers, using high-quality carbon steel and traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each helmet is forged and finished with meticulous attention to detail, guaranteeing historical authenticity, durability, and a high-quality, handcrafted finish.
This helmet is distinguished by its double visor, hinged at a single point and secured by robust side rivets. This system allowed the knight to partially open the front visor for better breathing outside of combat, while maintaining a high level of protection and practicality.
The 16th-century plated gorget, integrated into the helmet's structure, effectively protects the neck and throat while offering good mobility, a typical characteristic of Renaissance combat armor. Its enveloping design fully protects the head, neck, and throat, while maintaining good visibility and freedom of movement. For intense combat or the use of the buhurt, the 2 mm version is recommended.
Fully wearable and functional, this helmet is customizable to your needs:
