Design and Construction
The rounded helmet bowl is made from sturdy steel and assembled using steel rivets. The construction includes the frontal band, reinforcing strips and face protection, following a style of construction commonly found in Early Medieval Europe.
The adjustable leather liner allows the helmet to fit the wearer's head more comfortably, while the leather chin strap with brass buckle helps keep the helmet securely in place during use.
Historical Inspiration
Spangenhelms, or helmets constructed using a framework of metal bands, were widely used throughout the Early Middle Ages.
This model is inspired by helmets from the Vendel Period and Viking Age, with particular reference to the Scandinavian and Northern European helmet tradition. The famous Gjermundbu find, dating to the 10th century, is one of the most important archaeological references for the study of Viking helmets.
Important: This product is not an exact archaeological reproduction of a historical find, but rather a modern interpretation inspired by helmets from the Viking Age and Early Medieval period.
