Medieval Helm - Flat Stamp Helm

Medieval Helm - Flat Stamp Helm

Medieval Great Helmet

The Great Helmet is a combat helmet derived from the cervelliere, to which a contoured front plate for face protection was added, complete with eye slits and ventilation holes. The eye openings ensure functional vision and represent one of the first attempts at full-face protection.

This type of helmet with a face mask was the precursor to cylindrical helmets with greater facial protection, closed helmets, and, finally, the Great Pot Helmet. Typical of the Middle Ages, it appeared in the first half of the 11th century and was widely used by the Crusaders in the 12th century, usually combined with an iron chainmail.

The helmet is ideal for both combat and historical reenactments, medieval performances, and themed events.

The interior features an adjustable leather liner for a proper fit; it also includes a leather chinstrap with a brass buckle.
