These Gothic gauntlets are detailed replicas of late medieval plate gauntlets and combine robust hand protection with the characteristic design of Gothic armor. The construction of numerous movable metal plates, the pointed cuff area, and the decorative details give the gauntlets an authentic medieval look.
Gauntlets were an indispensable part of plate armor in the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. They offered optimal protection for hands and wrists both on the battlefield and in jousting tournaments.
The fingers are protected by individual, overlapping steel plates, allowing for a flexible construction. The backs of the hands and the base of the fingers are also fitted with carefully arranged plates. Particularly striking are the heart-shaped cutouts and embossed ornamental lines, which lend the design a typical late medieval character.
Inside are full leather gauntlets to which the metal plates are attached. This creates an authentic combination of leather glove and flexible steel plate construction. An additional leather strap at the wrist ensures a secure fit. The wide, pointed cuff protects the wrist and forearm and defines the typical silhouette of Gothic gauntlets.
The steel used here is not stainless and may show slight signs of corrosion. We recommend regularly maintaining the gauntlets, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil that is excellent for preserving steel goods.
The above specifications may vary slightly from piece to piece.
