German Pappenheimer Rapier

A replica of a 17th-century German rapier.

This rapier is known as a "Pappenheimer" due to the distinctive design of its hilt (specifically, the complex guard/basket). The name refers to Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim, an Imperial commander during the Thirty Years' War; this type of rapier was highly popular among the troops of his famous cuirassier regiment.

The rapier is supplied with the scabbard shown (wood wrapped in leather, with steel fittings).
