Beagnoth Seax – Limited Deluxe Edition

Replica of a 9th-century Anglo-Saxon long seax, limited to only 250 pieces worldwide. The original was discovered in the River Thames in London in 1857 and is now on display at the British Museum. It is therefore also known as the Thames Scramasax or Thames Sword.

The blade is meticulously engraved and features a runic inscription. The first part reproduces the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc (runic alphabet), while the second part reads “Beagnoth,” believed to be the name of either the owner or the swordsmith.

This reconstruction closely follows the shape and dimensions of the original Early Medieval artifact. As with the original, the inscription is rendered with gold and silver inlays. In addition to the inscription, the single-edged blade features a narrow but deep fuller. The blade is unsharpened and has a blued finish. The wooden grip scales are secured to the tang with brass rivets.

The package includes a wooden wall display, a numbered certificate of authenticity, and a sturdy, elegant cowhide leather sheath. Unlike the standard version, the sheath of this limited deluxe replica is decorated with four brass fittings featuring knotwork motifs.
