Burgonet (or *Sturmhaube*), 1.2 mm steel
Burgonet (or *Sturmhaube*), 1.2 mm steel
The burgonet—also known as a *Sturmhaube*—evolved from the sallet in the early 16th century. Primarily used by infantry and later by cavalry, it became one of the most widespread helmet types of its era.
The reproduction offered here features the characteristic comb and an arched peak adorned with brass-colored rivets. The cheek pieces are decorated with brass elements and attached to the helmet via hinges, allowing them to swing outward by nearly 90 degrees. The additional gorget (or *Helmbart*) also features brass elements and brass-colored rivets; it is constructed with three articulated lames and is strapped in place over the wearer's chin and the helmet's cheek pieces using a leather strap. The helmet includes a leather liner and a chin strap.
