The claymore is a two-handed sword used in Scotland during the 16th and 17th centuries.
There are various names and spellings for this sword, most of them derived from Gaelic: Claidheamh-mòr, Claidheamh mòr, Glaymore, and others, all simply meaning “great sword”.
It is a long, double-edged sword with a wide guard, often V-shaped, whose ends are decorated with circular ornaments.
Historical claymores often featured a long leather-wrapped grip.
The blade of this two-handed sword is hand-forged from carbon steel. The handle is made of wood wrapped in leather. The blade is unsharpened.
