Gothic Leg - Medieval leg armor
Gothic leg armor, 15th century, 1.6 mm steel, pair
Gothic leg armor (cuisses and greaves), based on a German design from the late 15th century.
Armor and individual armor components from the 15th century were typically highly decorative. Due to the increasing effectiveness of offensive weaponry, they tended to cover the entire body.
These greaves and cuisses are crafted from 1.6 mm thick steel and feature adjustable leather straps at the rear, complete with buckles finely fashioned in a mature Gothic style. The front is adorned with forged fleur-de-lis motifs and slender ridges, appearing both on the thigh sections and below the poleyns (knee defenses).
