Medieval bassinet helmet

It is the visor that gives the helmet its name, because it looks like a dog's face. Called in Germany Houndskull ("dog" in German, "Hound or Hund"), with a protruding muzzle to better protect the face from breath and ensure greater ventilation. Another name for this helmet is "pig pelvis".

Until about 1420, it was the favorite helmet of knights across Europe

This reproduction is based on a medieval cradle made in Milan around 1390 BC.

It is part of the armor of Chur, Tyrol. It is handcrafted from a 2mm steel plate, riveted and welded to ensure strength and the best possible protection during battle reenactment.

The helmet has a fully removable and detachable hinged visor with a pin attached to a chain. A padded liner is attached to the helmet.

The brass rivets on the side are used to secure a "mesh collar" for the chest and shoulders.
