The Hundsgugel helmet developed from the late medieval bascinet. Until around 1420, the Hundsgugel was one of the preferred helmet styles among noble knights and warriors. The distinctive design of its visor gave this helmet its name, Hundsgugel ("hound's hood" / "dog's head"), and contributed to its widespread use throughout Central Europe.

The original of our fully reenactment-combat suitable reproduction was most likely made around 1400/1410 in Milan, Northern Italy, which at the time was one of the most important centres of armour craftsmanship.

The helmet is handcrafted from 2 mm thick steel plate, carefully shaped, riveted, and welded by hand. Thanks to its robust construction, it provides excellent protection during historical combat and medieval reenactment.

The helmet features an upward-opening hinged visor and two additional hinged plates in the neck and chest area. It is also equipped with a comfortable padded fabric liner and a leather chin strap for a secure and comfortable fit.
