Round shield

Rotella – a portable shield, circular in shape and convex in profile, common between the 14th and 16th centuries. This piece features a finely pitted outer surface and a raised central boss, elements that enhance its aesthetics and historical accuracy.

Inspired by examples from Northern Italy, 13th century.

Made entirely of hand-worked iron, this rotella recalls historical artifacts primarily intended for parade armor. Rotellas used in warfare are rare, as bucklers were generally preferred in military settings.
