Scottish Rapier with Scabbard

Immerse yourself in the world of late 18th-century Scottish Highland officers with the Scottish sword "Pinch of Snuff." This meticulously crafted replica combines impressive looks with high-quality workmanship and is the perfect sword for collectors, historical reenactors, and history buffs.

The model is a historic original from the Eglinton Castle collection, now housed at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada. The sword takes its name from William Delacour's painting "A Pinch of Snuff" (circa 1760). It depicts an officer of a Highland regiment taking a pinch of snuff while carrying his basket-sword in his left arm. The weapon depicted corresponds to the typical style of officer's weapons of the period, from circa 1760 to 1790.

The single-edged blade, approximately 84 cm long, is screwed to the end of the hilt. It has a robust back and tapers gently both in profile and distally towards the tip. A distinctive feature is the two grooves: a wide central groove that ends just before the tip and a narrower, deeper groove along the spine that extends approximately two-thirds of the blade's length.

The hilt corresponds to the classic Scottish cage handle. The finely perforated handle is made of approximately 2 mm thick steel and completely envelops the hand, offering excellent protection. The hilt is made of a wooden core covered in black leather and wrapped in braided steel wire for aesthetics and a better feel. The handle is completed with a hemispherical pommel made of solid steel.

The sword comes with a black leather scabbard with a steel faceplate and strap.

This broadsword is intended as a collector's item and a decorative piece, and is also perfect as an accessory, such as a costume accessory.

The steel used is not stainless and may show slight traces of corrosion. It is therefore recommended to clean the blade regularly, for example with Ballistol, a universal oil ideal for maintaining steel items.
