Medieval Sword – Milanese Sword with Finger Guard (1432 A.D.)

One of the most famous swords from Alexandria is housed in the Royal Armouries in Leeds. This sword is a representative example of Type XIX swords according to the Oakeshott typology. The defining characteristics of Type XIX swords include parallel blade edges, a hexagonal blade cross-section, and a short ricasso.

This superb hand-forged reconstruction of the Royal Armouries sword features an 87 cm (34.3 in) oil-hardened spring steel blade with a full tang peened to the pommel. The edges are left unsharpened. The guard and pommel are hand-forged from steel, while the grip is wrapped with steel wire.

This faithful replica of a genuine late-medieval museum piece is exceptionally light and well balanced. It is supplied with a leather-covered wooden scabbard fitted with steel mounts.
