Light cavalry saber from 1796 with scabbard
The light cavalry saber, Model 1796, was one of the most common edged weapons used by the Prussians and British, who together victoriously defeated Napoleon's troops at Waterloo in 1815.
The shape of the blade is derived from the Indian talwar. This saber was feared on the battlefield and was used by German units well into the 20th century due to its effectiveness.
The blade of our replica is made of spring steel, but not sharpened. The saber comes with a matching steel scabbard. The scabbard has a steel carrying ring.
Truly a piece of history.
