Bastard Sword, Hand-and-a-Half Sword with Scabbard

Bastard Sword, Hand-and-a-Half Sword with Scabbard

Bastard Sword, Hand-and-a-Half Sword with Scabbard

A bastard sword is a late medieval and Renaissance sword whose length exceeds that of a standard one-handed sword. These are usually hand-and-a-half swords, or bastard swords.

This reconstruction is entirely handcrafted. The straight, twisted crossguard and pommel are made of iron. The blade extends through the pommel and is screwed in place. The grip is wrapped with leather. The blade features a pronounced fuller, which gives the sword great flexibility and lightness. The blade edge is not sharpened.

The sword comes with a leather-covered wooden scabbard fitted with simple throat and chape plates.

This is the standard version of the bastard sword. The same sword is also available in a stage combat-ready version with a blunt blade and rounded tip: Item No. 0116340206
