Short XVIIIth century sabre, adopted by the different regiments of the French army starting from 1800, thanks to the work of general Gassendì. One-edged slightly curved steel blade. Curved hilt made in copper cast metal with false wrapped string and plain knuckle-guard. Provided with leather covered sheath with strenghtening metal bands on point and upper edge, this last equipped also with a button to fasten the sheath to the belt.
