Templar helmet cylinder

Templar helmet cylinder

The Great Helmet is a combat helmet derived from the cervelliere helmet, with the addition of a contoured plate to protect the face, complete with eye slits and ventilation holes. Eye openings provide adequate vision; it was one of the first attempts to create full-face protection. These helmet designs, with a nasal helmet or face mask, were the precursors to cylindrical helmets with greater facial protection, closed helmets, and, finally, the Great Kettle Helmet. A typical helmet used in the Middle Ages, it appeared in the first half of the 11th century and was used by the Crusaders during the 12th century, usually combined with a ringed iron coif.

This helmet is ideal for combat, but also for medieval reenactment performances.

The inside of the helmet features an adjustable leather cuff for easy wearing, and the helmet has a leather chinstrap and a brass buckle.
