Charlemagne Sword

Charlemagne Sword

One of the most well known swords in the world is the traditional sword at the coronation of the kings of France, at one time was the Emperor Charlemagne, preserved in the Louvre museum in Paris.

Even today it is not clear whether it is truly the sword of Charlemagne, called "Joyeuse" or if it goes back to a later date, between the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, as more likely today tend to think.

Blade made of steel with cast metal hilt gold decorated with figures in relief.

Total length 98 cm.
